    I ve read The Turn of the Screwthan once with different conclusions each time This collection of essays, however, relates a grocery list of interpretations that made me feel at first rather stupid I ll assume that anyone reading this review has read the above work Most of the critical opinion divides on whether the apparitions were real or the narrator s hallucinations, and I enjoy Aldrich s suggestion that an imaginative person can believe in the supernatural theory while ae I ve read The Turn of the Screwthan once with different conclusions each time This collection of essays, however, relates a grocery list of interpretations that made me feel at first rather stupid I ll assume that anyone reading this review has read the above work Most of the critical opinion divides on whether the apparitions were real or the narrator s hallucinations, and I enjoy Aldrich s suggestion that an imaginative person can believe in the supernatural theory while aearthbound person will lean to psychopathology I could go either way There were a few ideas that boldly took their own path but lost their way.The only hesitation I have is in each critic s habit of reiterating every predecessor s argument before discussing his own theory Some of these essays ofthan 20 pages spend 10 pages bringing the reader up to speed...
